Chris
Maxwell, senior pastor of Evangel Assembly in Orlando, has served over twenty
years in pastoral ministry. He writes articles, curriculum, reviews and
devotionals for a variety of publications, including Charisma, Today’s
Pentecostal Evangel, IssacharFile, Enrichment, LIVE, Christian Retailing,
Ministries Today, The Orlando Sentinel and many others.
In addition to pastoring, Chris teaches and
speaks at colleges, hospitals, ministries and writer’s conferences, serves
on leadership teams of two missions organizations, and coached basketball for
many years.
Chris was born and raised in Georgia and attended Emmanuel College. He holds a
Masters of Divinity. Chris and wife, Debbie, who holds a masters’ in special
education, were married in 1981. She teaches at Pine Castle Christian Academy
where two of their sons, Aaron and Graham, attend. Their oldest son, Taylor,
attends college and writes and sings for the Christian rock group Solstice.
Seven years ago, an unexpected attack of viral encephalitis nearly took Chris'
life. It was the beginning of a long and arduous journey toward recovering the
communication and memory skills he'd long enjoyed and suddenly found absent.
God's amazing restorative power is in full evidence on each page of Beggars
Can Be Chosen.
